Syllabus for the year
At the Baw Baw club, we cater for both backyard breeders and the fancier who might want to take their hobby to the next level. Contact us to see if there is some way we can enhance your Budgie experience.

January
With the new year and the two February meetings, our year will start in February
February
Monday 5th
This months meeting will be our Annual General Meeting night. young birds can also be brought along for showing on the night.
february
monday 26th
This night will be our selection for the Adult State championship, the Harry Eady shield. the beginner and intermediate entries for their adult state championships, held on the same day will also need to be made.
March
Monday 11th (2nd Monday yes)
An opportunity to provide some budgie insight. some form of budgie discussion will be had on the night
April
Monday 1st
With birds in moult we will provide speakers on the night and discuss a Variety, how it is bred and how to breed it.
It will be a very informative night.
There may also be birds to buy, swap and sell on the night
May
Monday 20th
Young Bird State Championship, frank Gardner shield, Selection.
Entries for the beginner and intermediate young bird state championship will also be taken on the night
The Baw Baw club will enter a team of birds into a Competition where all of the clubs in Victoria will compete against one another. On this night we will select up to 3 birds of each variety, which will then represent the club against 3 birds from each other club. If members are lucky, at the State championship, birds may then be selected to represent Victoria at a National competition, this year held in Tasmania.
June
Monday 10th (Yes 2nd Monday)
Time to start Pairing up birds for Exhibition breeders, to aim to have birds for the Un Broken Cap State Championship, another Club competition we will have a guest speaker for members to enjoy, a variety to discuss and a buy swap and sell night
July
Monday 1st
A guest speaker will talk on breeding bird management. A forum for questions will also occur.
August
Monday 5th
A talk on the care of your breeding birds i.e. feeding for condition and readiness for babies which if not hatching will be hatching soon. A forum for questions will also occur.
September
Monday 2nd
With the UBC state championship move to October, we will have another educational night for members who will be encouraged to ask questions, particularly about breeding.
We may also have a UBC show for those who paired up on the traditional long weekend and have babies around.
October
Monday 21st
UNBROKEN CAP (BABY BIRDS) STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, Harold Heath Shield, CLUB SELECTION
ENTRIES FOR THE BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL ALSO BE TAKEN
ONCE AGAIN, BAW BAW WILL BE ENTERING A TEAM OF BIRDS TO COMPETE IN MELBOURNE. BABIES (UBC’S) WILL BE BROUGHT IN BY MEMBERS TO, HOPEFULLY, BE SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE CLUB AT THIS COMPETITION.
November

Come along and discuss how your breeding season has progressed and have any questions answered another opportunity for a guest speaker. THERE WILL ALSO BE A DISCUSSION ABOUT OUR UPCOMING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.
We will also have a UBC show on the night.
